We have all heard about the phone hacking scandal, which was done by one of Murdoch little tabloid newspapers that doesn’t seem to exist anymore. The scandal has shaken Murdoch’s media empire so bad that the losses are now astronomical.

To make things short, the scandal started weighing on NWSA as of July 6^th. On July 5^th, the stock was trading at $18.13, yesterday the stock closed at $14.97 (down 18% so far). Now since there are 2.63 billion common shares, this means that the market capitalization of News Corporation was reduced by $8.31 billion (that’s in less than 2 weeks). Now how much did Rupert Murdoch lose?

Since Murdoch controls around 30% of News Corporation, then his total loss is around $2.5 billion.
